DECEMBER NEWSLETTER

FROM THE SECRETARY:
December 6, 2010

Merry Christmas to all!

It has been almost two years since I have written a newsletter and I know allot has happened to all of us since then.
I have been blessed with the addition of a beautiful granddaughter, Breanna, and my eldest daughter, Chaille, has
received her degree in Veterinary Medicine and has begun practicing in Tulsa, OK.  Our registry has continued to
grow at an amazing rate and we are grateful for all of your support.  It is exciting to open the envelopes and see all
of the gorgeous dogs that you are breeding and how much our registry has evolved.  I have just issued #1150 and
we have over 3000 back numbers in our registry now.  I still enjoy seeing all of the pictures of your dogs and even
though the registry is time consuming, for the most part I still enjoy being your secretary.  It is a job that I take very
seriously.  I know that I do not often respond in as timely a manner as you would like, but believe me, it is certainly
not that I do not think about you on a daily basis.  My life is just like all of yours--extremely busy.  With raising jacks
myself and taking care of 20 horses, teaching school, caring for aging parents, now have a wonderful two year old
granddaughter in my home, and somewhere in there finding time for my husband, my life is quite hectic.  I have also
aged and my bones do not move as quickly as they used to and I suffered a fall from a horse in early fall that left
me quite the baby for a while.

Looking into 2011, there will be a few changes again in our registry.  Fees for members will not go up; they will
remain the same.  Fees for non-members will be $20.00 for registration of individual dogs and/or litters.  For ANY
dog applying for registration that does NOT have a litter registration form with a submitted application, the fee will
be $100.00.  Why the raise in fee?  First, so that only those that feel they have superior stock that can contribute
significantly to our registry be admitted.  If people are willing to pay that fee, they must feel their dogs are
outstanding enough to become a part of our registry.  Secondly, many people are advertising on their website that
their dogs are "EJRTCA eligible" for registration but are not taking the time to register their litters.  This puts an
EXTREME burden on me working the registry and providing papers to these people.  It slows up my paperwork
greatly and those people that are gracious enough to diligently register their litters do suffer from it.  It is not that
our registry needs the money.  We are quite solvent.  It is the simple fact that if people are not willing to take the
time to register their litters (I know it cannot be the expense of it), they should not be able to cheaply register those
dogs like those people that do take the time to complete proper paperwork.  Also, within the last year, I have had
numerous complaints from people buying dogs they felt was EJRTCA registrable and then find out their litter has
not been registered or that they have a very difficult time getting papers from the breeders.  This has happened
way too often.  In 2011, if you have not been registering your litters with us within the past year and have been
selling your pups without litter registration papers, please do not ask us to put you back on the breeders' referral
list.  You will not be placed back on it.  I have had many calls asking why we list breeders on that list that do not
register their litters, and frankly, I do not have an answer for them.  It may not be important to you to register that
litter, but it is important to the buyer and certainly important to me.  I sometimes receive twenty sets of papers in a
week's time and when you do not take the time to register the litters, it slows up paperwork for everyone for me to
do what is necessary to register people's dogs.  Also, please inform your buyers of the correct process to register
your dogs.  I have many get angry with me because they just send in the litter registration paper with no fees, no
pictures, no vet certificate, nothing.........and expect me to register their dog.  I then email or call them and tell them
what I need and it slows down their registration process twice as long or even longer.  Any registry is only as good
as the people that make up the body of it.  With your continued integrity, we can expect this registry to continue to
be the largest shorty jack registry in the world with some of the most beautiful dogs people have even seen!

I do wish each and everyone of you the absolute best in 2011.  One thing I have learned from growing old is to
appreciate life and how privileged we are to be in the world and to have the blessed life with animals that we have.  I
know that animals are a great responsibility, but what an empty life we would have without them.  As you reflect on
the upcoming season, please remember the "Reason for the Season" and thank God for His many blessings he has
bestowed upon us with such awesome creatures!

Your Secretary,

Jana Crawford
